Company announcements
Artis Finance (“Artis”), a leading NBFI, is delighted to announce the closing of a significant investment from private equity firm TDR Capital.
TDR’s investment is a huge vote of confidence in the Artis offering, governance structure and management team.
Artis is expected to benefit from TDR’s longstanding expertise in helping businesses achieve strong, sustainable growth. TDR will be represented on both the board and investment committee as part of the deal, which sees the firm acquire a majority stake.
Over the past two decades, TDR has built a reputation as a leader in the private equity space by focusing on companies with a potential for robust growth and resilience through economic cycles. Today, it has more than US$13bn of assets under management.
The fresh capital will facilitate the rollout of Artis’ initial receivables finance offering: a pioneering, industry-first approach whereby fixed-income investors can buy listed, tradable bonds underpinned by credit-insured loans to midsized corporates.
In recent years, even established trading companies have struggled to adequately fulfil their trade finance needs amid a retrenchment by commercial banks. Against this backdrop, Artis was launched in mid-2020 by trade and commodities finance professionals to ensure businesses with strong governance and sound business practices can secure the necessary funding.
Waldo de Vleeschauwer, CEO at Artis Finance, commented: “We are delighted to have won backing from a private equity investor with the calibre of TDR Capital. Their longstanding experience will ensure Artis has the capital and expertise it needs to grow.”
“Artis only launched in 2020. But with TDR’s investment, our industry-first receivables finance programme is set to be a major positive for fixed-income investors and midsized corporates seeking a robust, long-term source of trade finance.”
